This mac & cheese is truly to die for! I did not change a single thing about this recipe. Follow it to the letter and you will not be disappointed. The addition of the processed cheese made this creamier than any other mac & cheese recipe I've tried which always seem to turm out gritty!
It reminded it me of the baked Mac and cheese I grew up on. It was creamy and cheesy and delicious! I served with diced celery to give the dish the crunchy texture we love!
I really like this recipe BEFORE I put it in the oven. In fact, I was eating the leftover sauce out of the pan, but the 30 minutes in the oven made the sauce set up and even get a little gritty. If I make this again I won't bake it.
I really enjoyed this recipe, but I did make some changes. I used Velveeta cheese instead of American cheese. I also didn't use an onion since I read other reviews that the onion over powered the dish. Instead I used some onion powder and dry chopped onion. My family loves the mac and cheese I make now.

This is the ultimate in comfort food with a gourmet twist! I didn't have fresh onion, so I used a little bit of onion powder and garlic powder. I also used a shredded cheese blend made by Kraft called Classic Melts, 4 cheese. This was perfect, easy to make and cheap. This would be really good with crushed Ritz crackers on top...this is my new mac and cheese recipe.
